While the services provided at each hotel is most likely an array of general practices, integrating social aspects with the traditional expectation of friendly staff members, the core of such interactions still remains to be propelling the hotel’s atmosphere in a way which allows customers to experience the genuine culture of the area they are present in. Rather than shallow cultural dipping, the accommodation itself should strive to be more than a simple abode, but also a life form of the country’s colourful history and artistic sense.
The First Step: Human to Human Interactions
Humans are social creatures, and as such, certain customs and genteel presentations of themselves have developed in different geographic locations. Thus, the foundations of tourists and other foreigners grasping a sense of the country’s cultural aspects reside in the people themselves, and hence, the encouraged interactions between staff members and their customers. Although they may speak a different language, there are still other modes of difference, such as their demeanour which separates them from other cultures; that should be inherent and in the display for customers.
It is not the simple basics of hygiene and accessibility of facilities which a hotel should present to customers; that can be accessed anywhere in a decent hotel. Truly unique hotels are concerned over not only the customers’ welfare but also how they cope in a new environment, and through easing them into it through their primary form of residence, the hotel itself, they are able to present to their customers different facets of their country in a way that can be easily absorbed.
With only automated machines which direct tourists with their instructional speech, there are no real emotional intimacies to be made between them and humans. What is much more memorable and warmer, are people’s relationships with each other, and therefore, also the fusion of diverse people welcomed from all corners of the globe.
